HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
I grew up in Eastern NC in a shotgun house. I come from women who spoke their mind, even in their stillness.
"In order to be a true revolutionary, you must understand love." - Sonia Sanchez
"I love you," I heard God whisper in my ear, and I cried joyfully.
I have been obsessed with love since I was a kid. My first tattoo, a deeply shaded imperfect heart, bears the inscription "amor." I've spent decades reading love stories, researching love, practicing love, and embedding it into my work and becoming. I can attest, love truly does set you free.
bell hooks believed that when we embrace [Black] feminist thinking and practice (a practice emphasized by love and the value of mutual growth and self-actualization), we can enhance our well-being.
I tell you this because love is my special skill. I know how to love well. I learned it first from the Black feminists and womanists who left their love in the pages of memoirs, calls to action, and daily principles.
Love is what you will get with me. A love for your growth that is so deep and dark and Black it will fill you with your power. My love engages you in a mutually reciprocal relationship, but here's the caveat - you must be invested, too.
WORLDBUILDING ROOTS
Critical frameworks, intersectional approaches, and Black feminist / womanist thinking are my foundation.

Hey there! A few fun things about me: I am an introvert who finds alignment by spending time with myself. I cherish my friends and family. I enjoy art, writing, Black culture, Black people, deep/illuminating conversation, and magic. I also love superhero movies and cooking for the people I love. My musical tastes are varied, and I make playlists for every occasion. My favorite 2023 read was This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur Riley. My unlocked special skill of 2023 was collage-making.
